Silver Dollar City - New 2018 Coaster Construction Update #1: Footers Galore and Much More
Silver Dollar City is being very quiet, despite the obvious construction for a new roller coaster occurring. The speculation (which I covered in another article that can be read here) is that this new project will be a MACK Rides Extreme Spinning Coaster, and a 2018 opening is the most common prediction for when Silver Dollar City will open it. The name is supposedly "Time Traveler," as revealed in a trademark filed by the parent company of Silver Dollar City, Herschend Family Entertainment. I did show a photo of the cleared area where the coaster is being constructed adjacent to Thunderation, an Arrow Dynamics Mine Train coaster at the park, in the article linked above. The photo showed many footers and cleared land, but, that was it.
Just about a month later, MidwestInfoGuide released another set of photos posted in late January, and they are shown below with new construction! (Thanks to them for the photos and information in this article!)
As you can see, a multi-layered building (supposedly the new coaster's station) is in the middle of being erected. The new coaster is rumored to have a launch, and it is suspected to be located on the right side of the station building, meaning the left side would have the brake run and transfer track.
In this photo, you can see a close-up of the footers being poured for the launch track.
If you look closely, footers for the new coaster can be see inside the layout of Thunderation, meaning the new coaster would have to go over Thunderation's layout. This would be the first time Silver Dollar City had two of their coasters come this close, let alone interact with each other.
Large footers can be seen in this valley. It is suspected that an inversion or large element will be located here.
You can see in this photo that the new coaster will get very close to Silver Dollar City's amphitheater, Echo Hollow. Its seats and railings can be seen very close by footers for the new coaster.
Here again is the part of Thunderation's layout where the new coaster will have to cross over.
In these photos you can see some other footers, some of which are very close to the edge of Silver Dollar City's property, and more cleared land. The coaster is suspected to open next year.
