Tower of Terror at Disney California Adventure Closes Forever - Will Reopen This Summer as 'Miss
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (Tower of Terror for short) is one of the most iconic attractions at the several Disney theme parks in which it can be found. The first of the four variants of this accelerated drop tower attraction opened at Disney's Hollywood Studios (DHS for short) in 1994. It is considered the best Tower of Terror variant to this day, even though it was the first to open. After the DHS Tower of Terror became an instant success, three more variants were installed in 2004, 2006, and 2007 at Disney California Adventure, Tokyo DisneySea, and Walt Disney Studios Park, respectively. All of these variants have their differences, but the DHS Tower of Terror is the most unique of them all.
Although every Tower of Terror is one of the most popular attractions at their respective parks, Disney decided it would be closing the Disney California Adventure variant and replacing it with 'Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout!'. Disney California Adventure's Tower of Terror officially closed on January 3, 2016, and will open this summer as 'Mission: Breakout!'.
Even though the Disney California Adventure Tower of Terror had only operated for 12 years, Disney closed the attraction forever. Maybe the revamp of Tower of Terror will be an improvement, or it may not be as successful as Disney is hoping. Disney fans and the public have overwhelmingly declared disapproval of the closure and revamp of Tower of Terror.
Disney said it has no plans to change the other three Tower of Terror variants
