Silver Dollar City - New Roller Coaster's Name Possibly Leaked in Trademark Filing

Even though Silver Dollar City sent out a survey to guests in early 2016 about what attractions they would want to see in the near future, not until now am I confident in the validity of the current rumors. Just days ago, screamscape.com confirmed that the owner of Silver Dollar City, Herschend Family Entertainment, filed a trademark for the name "Time Traveler," which actually fits in with one of the themes provided in the survey I mentioned above. The survey had three options for three roller coasters and themes to go along with them, including one themed to time travel, that were ideas the park had for future projects. Although the survey had three options for guests to give opinions about, Silver Dollar City had almost certainly already purchased the new coaster coming in the near future a year or more before the survey was sent out. The other options were probably there so the park could receive feedback that would help them in deciding exactly how they should be building future attractions.

Speculation among the amusement park industry points to a MACK Rides Extreme Spinning Coaster being the attraction Silver Dollar City has in mind. It would fit in at the park as it would be the first spinning coaster there and would be another family coaster or thrill attraction depending on what demographic Silver Dollar City decided to target. Either way, the park would benefit a lot from the attraction. I do recall that the survey mentioned that the Extreme Spinning Coaster/Time Traveler option would be something along the lines of "daring". So, Silver Dollar City could possibly be targeting the thrill seekers again, even though the park opened a Rocky Mountain Construction Topper Track wooden coaster, Outlaw Run, in 2013.

There are photos around the internet of footers being poured in a clearing the park made over the previous summer back by the park's Arrow Dynamics Mine Train, Thunderation. These are obviously roller coaster footers because of how and where they were poured, as seen in the

picture to the right. Nearly twenty footers can be seen in the picture, but there are more of them than what is pictured. This picture was posted on December 22, 2016. So, of course, more has happened since then, especially because the park closed earlier this month for the season and will reopen in the coming months, meaning the park has temporary privacy.

The upside to this story: I can say that this coaster is for sure, 100%, opening in 2018!

I will give my feelings on the coaster when it is announced by the park, which will most likely be later this year. When it is announced, it will join the list of epic coasters opening in 2018, either speculated or announced.
